Ten species of cetaceans coexist in the Mediterranean Sea, one richest seas biodiversity and endemisms worldwide. The conservation status has been a concern for many years, particularly due to increasing anthropogenic threats such as global warming overfishing. We established stable isotopic niches carbon, nitrogen, sulphur five inhabiting northwestern Sea elucidate mechanisms coexistence. fin whale exploited epipelagic habitats with low trophic level; bottlenose dolphin was mostly neritic had high Risso’s oceanic fed bathypelagically at finally, common striped dolphins displayed distributions similarly intermediate levels. all were exclusive except dolphins, whose overlapped by 20%.
